A few house pics

The house will be ours...

...in four hours! Yes, that is right, we close on the house this afternoon, and I am so excited to move our things in and make it our own. We are going to start moving little things over in our cars today and tomorrow, then on friday we will rent a u-haul and get the rest of our things over there throughout the weekend. I am excited to move, but not excited about the actual work of moving. Thank goodness this will be the last time for a long time! So, I will take lots of pictures and post them as soon as I can.

On the work front, I have finally finished with my orientation, and am on my own with a full patient load. So far it has been great, and I guess Mum was right, nursing was the right career choice for me! Thanks Mum!

Started my new job..still working on the house!

So far so good with the new job, but that could all change this weekend. I had 3 days of orientation this week. Mostly it was computer training and going over all the policy and procedures of the hospital. So much information to take in, and I am sure that I only retained about 10% of it. So, I start up on the orthopedics floor tomorrow (Saturday).

As for the house business, well we pulled our offer on the other house, as we ended up just being a backup offer, plus we sort of changed our minds about the amount of work that we were willing to put into that house. There was a lot of big projects that we would have to do, such as new siding and windows in the next few years, and that is no small expense. Anyway, so we found this other house, it is only a block away from the first one, but the street is much nicer, the "bones" of the house are great, but it just needs some cosmetic updates. We like the layout of this house a lot better than the first one... so we put an offer in. Now we wait. Hopefully we will hear by tuesday. If it all goes through we will be moving in about a month! YAY for us! I am so excited to be in our own house! Oh, I will attach some pics of the house so you can see.

Got a job, getting a house!

Great news.... I finally have a job!!! I will be working at Swedish medical center, which is a pretty big hospital in Denver. I will be the newest RN to work on the orthopedic floor! I just found out today that I will be starting on Sept 4th. YAY for me, a regular paycheck!

ALSO... we have just been approved to buy a house that we have been eyeing for awhile... we will make an offer tomorrow! Wish us luck! Fingers crossed!

Work Permit!

Quick update... I received my permission to work last friday! Finally I will be able to get a real job and start making some real money! I am off to Canada on Sunday, so as soon as I get back I will be jumping into the job search head first....

No Drivers license!

Ok, so just a little bit of an update for you. I went to immigration, and they could do nothing for me. So now I am stuck without a DL for the next couple of weeks. I will get one while I am in Canada, so at least that is something.

So for now, I am being bad and driving without a license. At first I said that I would not drive without one, but now I have changed my mind. Two days without driving, and I couldn't handle it. Now I am driving only when I going to babysit... otherwise Cyrus will drive me to do other little errands etc.

Blah, I hate this whole immigration process... is it such a pain in the ass!

On a happier note... I am excited to be heading up to Canada in just under 3 weeks. I am excited to see Amy (Hi Amy!)... and then head up to Vanderhoof to see everyone. Diana is already there, so I can't wait to see my nephew again. Then 10 year reunion on the 7th of July, and then Shan's wedding on the 9th. Diana's and my bridesmaid dresses came in last week, and thank goodness they fit! I am really happy with the color... very nice. I will post pics of the wedding on my return.

Can we say... "PISSED"!

I am so annoyed. Today my student visa expires, and it seems as though my life goes down the drain with it. This is my last day at the bookstore - because of the visa, and my drivers license expires - also because of the visa. So I head down to the department of motor vehicle early this morning to beat the long lines. I arrived at 7:45am, and was number 26 in line. After 2 1/2 hours of waiting I was told NO, they could not give me a new drivers license because I was in immigration processing, and that I could not get one until my permanant residence status was finalized. Great. So now, I have no job, no drivers license, and without a license I can not get to where I need to go to babysit and make the little amount of money that I have been.

So... what are my options? Call Canada and see if there is anyway to get my DL from them - of course I can't, my DL expired almost 5 years ago. Call Australia - nope, can't renew without being there... of course. So I check up on the USCIS website (immigration)... maybe I can go in and beg them to give my my work permit early... or at least get them to give me some type of paperwork that would allow me to get a drivers license. So, luckily, they have some appointments tomorrow. So now I have to get Cyrus to take time off work to drive me over to USCIS, and hope to hell they give me what I need. Please, oh please......
